About This Quote

"My Soul is my Guide, for my Soul is of that Abode I will not Speak of the Earthly, I am of the Unknown." These words are taken from a poem by Edgar A. Guest. He was an English poet who wrote of his own experiences of being a spirit. He wrote this poem in 1839 when he was only 22.

He used the word "Soul" to describe his spirit and he used the word "Unknown" to describe where his soul was going when he died. The following are some of the things that Edgar A. Guest said that he saw when he was on his journey to the Unknown: "A great light came on me, this light shone all around me, I was on the shores of a great river, on which no one had ever set foot before." He said that he saw "gigantic trees", "beautiful mountains", and "a vast plain".
